Henspecialists: SG Becker
In Eschenburg, a municipality in the north of the Lahn-Dill-Kreis in Hessen, the Schlaggemeinschaft Becker is home to one of the strongest blows in Germany. Daniel (35), his wife Stephanie and Daniel’s father Hans-Georg (58) have been a successful trio for many years, claiming 4th place in the German Association Championship last season. In the RegV 404 Lahn-Sieg-Dill you became 1st association champion, after you had taken 2nd place the year before. The game takes place in RV Dillperle Dillenburg, where around 30 breeders compete with each other.
Daniel is the driving force and came to the pigeon sport through his two grandfathers. His wife is responsible for administrative and written matters. Father Hans-Georg came only a few years ago when he hung agriculture on the famous nail. The Daubengen must be anchored in the family Becker, because even the great aunt Edith Bauer travels in-house together with her son in the same RV very successful (2016: 2nd RV champion, 2017: 3rd RV champion). For the youngsters, the two would also be national in the top, if the flight conditions were met. While the SG Becker plays exclusively with females, so there show her brothers that they can do it too.
Unusual breeding system
The Beckers have developed a perfect breeding system for themselves. The 16 breeding birds are housed in individual boxes. Each of them has three females. When the first mating takes place, 16 travel animals are put together in parallel to receive the first nest of breeding birds after a few days of breeding. Then the breeding birds receive their second female, and a second equal group of travel birds are mated at the same time. The game starts from scratch and a few weeks later a third time is performed. After that, the breeding birds have to raise two to three laps themselves. Thus, one comes to 10- 12 youngsters per year and when all are brought to the start, already a qualified statement about the hereditary value of the breeding birds can be made, so that can be decided on the continuation of new launches at the end of the first year. Approximately 120 young females will be taken into their own stock, of which one third will fall prey to the birds of prey until the start of their journey. The 120 birds are being tested in the stroke of the great aunt.
In order to realize this system, you start breeding here at the end of November.
The hens sit up to the mating day and night, even in the cold in an aviary. After mating, they raise two cubs each, before they are separated again. When re-mating in the spring then no oviposition occurs. From the beginning to the middle of March, the troupe, after it was set over winter, gets the first free flight. Since 10 “good” birds have been beaten by the birds of prey in the first days of this year, our sports fans do not consider starting the free flight next year before the beginning of April. 68 toddlers were launched at the beginning of the season. In preparation for the season intensive private training is provided. 15, 20 and 40 km will be tackled alone, then with club members up to 160 km driven. During the season, the females are regularly driven to 40 km and shown to the birds on arrival. Initially even twice a week to train the widower better.
Even during the travel season, the females remain in the aviary during the day until around 9:00 pm and only come into the field at night, which is equipped with a seat shelf. Long irises prevent the inmates from seeing each other, so that one has no problems with homosexual inclinations. The reception committee is formed by the breeding birds, who after breeding have another important task. In the evening, the Amazon troop receives one hour of free flight daily, with the flight time significantly extended when the crew is in shape. Depending on your needs, the late females of the best females will be kept after the trip.
Striking is the high commitment in the training of young pigeons. Cultivate a lot, train a lot and select a lot is the motto. Early start with the private training. Flights from distances of 100 km and up to 150 km are not uncommon. Even flights over 400 km, especially for the elderly, I consider unproblematic. Two self-created mixtures, which are produced by the company Natural, are fed. The sports mix is served throughout the week. In the first few days, feed is made easier by adding paddy rice, and at the end of the week more components are added as needed. The breeding and moulting mix is the second self-developed creation and is used accordingly outside the journey.
For the supply of supplements, Beckers relies on the Röhnfried product range. The breeders get 14 days before mating a cure with Avitonikum Active, pigeon fins E-50 and RO 200 ready. During breeding, Avidress Plus is in the potions daily. During the week, the travel crew will receive a mixture of Winput, cheese (prepared by Rewe for Pizza) and chopped peanuts. Since traveling from the southeast direction, the calorie consumption of the animals is quite high. Therefore Oregano Schaffett, dried with RO 200 and Entrobac, is served over the food for two meals. Rotzitol is poured into the nose in the first seven weeks after the flight. Avisana gets in the eye before the flight. When the pigeons come off the flight, they will find 5-10 ml Rotosal, 15 ml Bt-Amin forte and 10 gr Mumm per liter of drinking water. During moulting and in winter the animals receive a lot of moor gold together with herbal mix.
